luxury tours

Bolivia's oldest tour company started in 1958, and has grown into
one of the largest luxury tour agencies in the country offering a
variety of preset and personalized multi-lingual tours. Lake Titicaca
is their specialty, where they take passengers on unique hydrofoil
boats. Our guide, Hugo, was a wealth of information as he took us
on the 2 day/1 night Sun Island Escape tour. We experienced Crillon's
Andean Roots Eco-Village in Huatahuata, La Posada del Inca Ecolodge
and Uma Kollu lake view restaurant on Sun Island, and exclusive trip
to the Sun Virgin's Temple on Moon Island.

See Lake
Titicaca in comfort and luxury, cruising, dining and sleeping aboard
one of Transturin's fantastic catamarans. Though offering tours all
over Bolivia, Transturin specializes in trips on Lake Titicaca, taking
guests to their exclusive IntiWata cultural complex on Sun Island
and on traditional tortora reed boat rides. Our Sun Island Catamaran
day/night cruise included a local wooden boat ride, walks on Inca
trails to discover ruins, indigenous onboard musical entertainment,
and two fantastic multi-lingual guides, Jaime and Gloria.

Sajama
Tours (Estrella del Sur)

tour
company
|
One of
the many companies making the trip across the altiplano and Salar
de Uyuni, Sajama Tours has been in operation in Bolivia since 1999,
and have a younger office in San Pedro de Atacama in Chile. As the
Rough Guide warns, all companies who do this trip are subject to problems,
including tire blowouts, run-down vehicles, miscommunication across
borders, and shortened itineraries. Although we did experience some
of these, we were happy with our driver and cook and only had two
other people in our 4WD, unlike many of the crowded cars from larger
companies. As with all companies, the drivers are not guides and only
speak Spanish, but our driver, Herman, was happy to make lots of photo
stops for us and was a great tire mechanic. Ask a lot of questions
before the trip and keep the trip flyer as confirmation of your itinerary.
