Join
the Salvadorians for their weekly Tuesday night party in the colonial
streets of Pelourinho and you will see bands, drumming groups and
dance halls in full swing. Eat and drink on the street and join the
dancing crowds! Do be careful though. There are A LOT of people that
will hassle you and befriend you throughout the night that can get
quite annoying. Just be friendly, have a good time and walk the other
way or towards a police officer if you're not comfortable.

An eye-opening
experience and insider view of Brazilian society, a favela tour takes
you into two of Rio's 'shantytowns'. Though usually only thought of
as poor and violent, tourists are very welcome and safe in the favelas,
and will visit community projects and a school which the tour helps
finance. Although there are now several companies offering favela
tours, this is the original and most insightful, started in 1992 by
Marcelo Armstrong, whose guides are incredibly informative, explaining

never thought he could run off a cliff, but suddenly he was soaring
through the air and loving it! Hang-gliding is a fabulous experience
and very easy to do if you're with such an experienced and professional
company like Just Fly. The 'pilots' will strap you in, run off the
mountain and fly tandem next to you, guiding the hang-glider on the
winds with expertise for about 10 minutes over gorgeous views before
gently landing on Sao Conrado beach. They can also take in-flight
