Built
almost entirely in dark timber, this beautiful resort blends right
in with it's forest surroundings, set in front of a quiet beach
amongst shady almond trees. Luna Beach can accommodate up to 100
guests in suites, beach front suites, and the 3-4 bedroom homes
that are spread out on 15 acres of a forested hill, with a boardwalk
path to explore the forest flora and fauna. Behind the pool, the
open-air restaurant and bar offer great meals or guests can walk
only 10 minutes to the many bars and cafes in the lively West End
area. Luna Beach also has a professional dive shop and staff to
take diving guests out to the multitude of dive sites right near
the resort. (866) 710-LUNA $$-$$$ |

If
you're looking for a peaceful and unpretentious getaway with fantastic
diving, Reef House Resort is just the place. Set on a small cay
on the less-touristed east side of Roatan Island, the Reef House
feels more like a bed and breakfast than a resort, as it's very
down-to-earth and owner-run. Canadian owners Larry and Carol live
at the resort and join guests for three home-cooked meals a day
and to relax on the breezy patio next to the ocean pool where 26
Hawksbill turtles live. Divers can do three dives a day, and guests
will be well taken care of by the enthusiastic dive master and boat
captain as you explore the 45 dive sites that are within 5 to 15
minutes of the resort. Nightly, weekly, diving, non-diving, diving
certification and inclusive rates available. Non-divers can enjoy
snorkeling, have a swim in the turtle pool and enjoy the peaceful
atmosphere at the Reef House.504-435-1482 $$-$$$ |
